Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Arrive in Marrakech and transfer to your riad for an overnight stay. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech, especially Djemaa-el-Fna square, located below the majestic Koutoubia Mosque.

Day 2: Marrakech to Ait Hamed – Start of Trek
After breakfast, we leave the bustling city of Marrakech and head toward the High Atlas Mountains. We travel to Ait Hamed, a traditional Berber village located in the Bougmez Valley. This area, also known as “Happy Valley,” is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery and provides a perfect starting point for our trek. Upon arrival, we meet our trekking team and begin our hike, which takes us to a nearby camp at 2,300 meters.

Day 3: Trek to Tarkeddit Plateau
Today, we venture deeper into the Mgoun Massif. After a hearty breakfast, we begin our trek towards the Tarkeddit Plateau. The route is challenging but offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. We’ll camp at 2,900 meters, surrounded by the beauty of the High Atlas, with Mount Mgoun towering in the distance.

Day 4: Trek to Aghouri Pass & Tarkeddit Plateau
We start our day by trekking towards Aghouri Pass (3,400 meters), where we’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Mgoun Massif. This area is famous for its nomadic shepherds and their stone shelters called “azibs.” After taking a break to admire the views, we descend to the Tarkeddit Plateau and set up camp for the night.

Day 5: Summit Attempt of Jebel Mgoun (4,068m)
Today is the highlight of our trek: an attempt to summit Jebel Mgoun (4,068 meters), the third-highest peak in the High Atlas. The climb is strenuous, but the views from the summit are extraordinary, offering a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountain ranges. After spending time at the summit and taking photos, we descend to the Oulilimt Valley (2,600 meters) for a well-deserved rest.

Day 6: Trek to Tizi n’Ait Imi Pass & Agouti
After breakfast, we embark on a gradual ascent to Tizi n’Ait Imi (2,905 meters), a pass with incredible views of the Bougmez Valley. After taking in the scenery, we descend to the village of Agouti, where we’ll spend the night at a local gîte. The gîte offers a welcoming atmosphere and traditional Moroccan hospitality, with the option of a relaxing hammam session.

Day 7: Exploring Bougmez Valley & Transfer to Marrakech
In the morning, we explore the beautiful Bougmez Valley, often referred to as “Morocco’s Shangri-La.” The valley is known for its lush orchards, terraced fields, and traditional Berber villages. After exploring, we take a scenic transfer back to Marrakech, where you’ll have some free time to wander through the vibrant souks and enjoy the city’s historical landmarks.

Day 8: Marrakech Exploration
Enjoy a full day to explore Marrakech, one of Morocco’s most iconic cities. Visit the Jardin Majorelle, the Koutoubia Mosque, and other highlights like the Saadian Tombs or El Badi Palace. In the evening, experience the lively atmosphere of Djemaa el-Fna, where you can sample local street food and shop for souvenirs.

Day 9: Departure from Marrakech
After breakfast, transfer to Marrakech Airport for your departure, marking the end of your unforgettable 9-day Jebel Mgoun trek.
